my illustration for Kevin's poem titled "Urgent Plea from a Scrambled Egg not to be Eaten" a very very funny one.
Urgent Plea from a Scrambled Egg not to be Eaten
Although I look all soft and fluffy
I'm really rather scruffy
I've lived life on the wrong side of the tracks
My days were long and hard
And I've spent time in the yard
You should have seen my shell- all loaded up with cracks
They whipped me and they beat me
You really should not eat me.
My insides are scrambled and my brains are fried.
I really taste quite awful
Won't you rather have a waffle
With some butter and some syrup on the side?
I see I can't dissuade you,
How bout if I paid you?
You really don't want to see a grown egg cry
But I just don't have the torque
To resist your urgent fork,
So I guess dear friend, this really is good-bye.

And here is another, titled "Bear Child"
Bear Child
Well it's time you were aware
that you're really not a bear
You're growing up,
we thought it's finally time you knew.
You're different from the others,
not as hairy as your brothers
And your sisters growl much louder than you do.
We found you in the forest
A diapered little tourist
You didn't cry, just chewed a brown pine cone
We took you home and got you fed,
laid you in an oak leaf bed
And raised you as if you were our very own.
At first you were confusing
Your skin was much more prone to bruising
When we pawed you like the other baby cubs
We were startled by your scream
When we put you in the stream
You preferred to have your bath time in a tub
And we learned to be more cautious
Since raw salmon made you nauseous
We fed you berries, honey, nuts and fruit
And we learned after a while
That marshmallows made you smile
When we found a human picnic site to loot.
You have hands to open jars
That we find in camper's cars
We were blessed to find you long ago that day
You never hibernate
And your eyesight's truly great
You can spot a trout a hundred feet away
You can't walk on four paws
And you don't have nice sharp claws
At bear-y things you'll never be the best
Though you cannot scale a tree
And you're scared of honey bees
We love you just as much as all the rest

Anyone who knows anything about me knows how in love i am with my Polaroid XGA 338 projector
(see i'm such a proud parent i can't even mention it without posting a photo)

and with the recent announcement that Polaroid is closing down, i got all nostalgic for my Polaroid camera and whilst buying up some extra Polaroid stock online i came across and also bought myself this cute necklace today--

i find more justification to start a collection if it can actually be useful and not just kept in a shoebox or something... so when i started saving funky bottlecaps on a trip to europe, i turned them into fridge magnets. I have them layered and stacked for now but once i can cover the whole door i think i'll tile them out. No duplicates or wine coolers allowed!

Magic Hat caps are my favorite, little poems under every one <3

i finally got around to uploading a video montage i made back in 1999... i think the biggest reason i still love it is because i made it on a LINEAR editing machine. What's that, boys and girls, you don't know what that is? Well let me tell you, people used to use something called VHS tapes and they would put one VHS tape into a VCR and copy parts of it onto a blank VHS tape using a LINEAR editing machine. Or something like that. The biggest memory i have was of jamming and breaking the machine when i tried using the tiny-camcorder-tape-inside-the-bigger-tape adapter from my dad's camcorder. I developed some strong enemies in the aspiring film world at that time early on in my career.

This illustration accompany's kevin's really funny kids poem titled "Chimp Removal." The text will be laid out on the paper the monkey is holding because at the end of it, because the poem asks you to sign on the dotted line:
Chimp Removal
If your house is full of bad chimpanzees,
If they lounge on your couches and eat all your peas,
If they climb up your draperies as if they were trees,
My chimp chimes will help you to oust them with ease.
My chimes sound like handfuls of jingling keys,
But when chimpanzees hear them, they stop still and freeze,
They'll follow me out, just as quick as you please,
And I'll take them to live with my Great Aunt Louise.
So if you've had your fill of those bad chimpanzees,
If they muddy your carpet and scratch your CD's,
If they've given your family a bad case of fleas,
My chimp chimes will answer your desperate pleas.
And if they smudge up your windows with smears of cream cheese,
If they turn up the heat to one hundred degrees,
If they use your dad's mustache just like a trapeze,
Just sign this agreement, I'll bill you the fees....

I'm currently working on illustrating a book of children's poetry my friend Kevin wrote with his sister, it's been a really fun project. This illustration accompanies the poem titled, "Molly McBing, Best on the Swing." We have a designer who will be laying out the book but here is the poem in plain text:
MOLLY McBING, BEST ON THE SWING
There once was a girl named Molly McBing
And she was an absolute ace on the swing
She’d get so high she’d look down on the trees
With hardly ever a bend in her knees
Then do triple summersault dismounts with ease
Molly McBing
Ace on the swing
So Molly perfected her swinging all day
Doing flips and twists in every possible way
When people saw her they were prompted to say
Molly McBing
Best on the swing
One day Molly decided to try something new
A swing trick that utterly no one could do
Her pulse started racing her confidence grew
Molly McBing
Ace on the swing
She started her swing with a run and a hop
Then she swung so high she just couldn’t stop
She kept on going right over the top
Molly McBing
Went over the swing
When the swing came around and the dust had cleared
What happened was worse than anyone had feared
Molly McBing had dissapeared
Molly McBing
Gone from the swing?
All that was found was Molly’s left shoe
Where she had gone nobody knew
And I kid you not this story is true
Molly McBing
Dissapeared from the swing
So if you’re thinking of trying this move on the swing
Remember what happened to Molly McBing
